The Smithfield Hotel is a small family run Orkney Hotel, established in 1861, situated in the heart of the farming community in the west mainland. Its location sets it within reach of all Orkney's main attractions.
Though the hotel has been modernised (with a recent refurbishment of the lounge bar/ restaurant and accommodation) it was built with traditional Orkney stone and retains all its distinctive architectural features and old fashioned style throughout. This small family run is an idea place to stay and relax, whether it is for business or leisure, the proprietors Ali,Ivy,Annie & Lee offer you true Orcadian hospitality on your visit.
The Hotel consists of 6 letting rooms, public bar with TV lounge, Plout Kirn lounge bar and Barn Restaurant. The Smithfield Hotel specializes in providing a friendly comfortable atmosphere and good home cooking.

To find us - travel on the main Stromness to Kirkwall road. You will see a turn off to the A986 near the village of Finstown. Take this road and continue on it until you reach Dounby which is the first village you'll see.

The Smithfield Hotel is on the right hand side of the crossroads, opposite the Scottish Co-op. There is a private carpark around the back of the hotel - to reach it turn right at the crossroads and then take the first left turn.
